Entrepreneurship Education and Sustainable Entrepreneurial Intention: The Mediating Role of Attitudes and the Moderating Role of Prior Entrepreneurial Experience

This study investigates how Entrepreneurship Education (EE) influences Sustainable Entrepreneurial Intention (SEI) among Bangladeshi university students, focusing on the mediating role of Attitude toward Sustainable Entrepreneurship (ATSE) and the moderating role of Prior Entrepreneurial Experience (PEE). Using a quantitative approach grounded in the Theory of Planned Behavior and Human Capital Theory, data from 600 students were analyzed using PLS-SEM via SmartPLS4. The findings reveal that EE significantly enhances SEI both directly and indirectly. ATSE partially mediates this relationship, indicating that EE strengthens positive attitudes toward sustainable entrepreneurship, which in turn increases SEI. Furthermore, PEE moderates the relationship between EE and ATSE, showing that students with prior entrepreneurial experience develop stronger sustainability-oriented attitudes. Overall, the study emphasizes the importance of integrating sustainability and experiential learning into entrepreneurship education to cultivate sustainable entrepreneurial mindsets among university students in Bangladesh.
